Much of this week has rotated around family issues. I've been out to Mom's several times this last week, with more to come soon.

In addition, I spent some time giving advice to our friend Nicco in the last several weeks, and yesterday we attended a memorial service for his father, whom I'd never met that I can recall. Support of those grieving is a very important activity. I will always treasure the memories of how those who supported me stepped up when my father died.

On a lighter note, we went to see Moana a couple of evenings back and aside from the child who kicked the back of my chair throughout the film, it was a fun time. Mind you, I'm not a big fan of the songs, but I was amazed by the animation that they'd achieved, and I found the heroes engaging characters. Fun!

I know we've been hitting the theaters a lot recently, including the latter, Fantastic Beasts and Arrival, but there's more to come. This season seems particularly heavy with films I want to see...

There's baking and decorating gone mad here in the kitchen as my beloved prepares for the Cookie Exchange. I have fewer places that I need to visit for cookie drop-offs; I can only imagine the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth of those places where they used to start pressing me about when the cookies would appear starting in August. Most of those places are going to be quite sad...

Arrival was good for my mental health the night I watched it.
