So, I finally get home, stressed to the max by the day's events (to be posted later), and we're standing in the den, when we hear a quick squeal of brakes and an impact.
Turns out someone ran the stop sign at the corner at speed, lost control of their SUV, and struck the telephone pole in front of our next-door neighbors' house.
I got to our front door in less than ten seconds, and this SUV had spun a couple of hundred feet down the street in front of our house, and a man was escaping out its window. I called 911, and forestcats checked on the driver. Soon, our street was blocked off, with five police cars, a fire truck, an ambulance, a tow truck, and two electric company trucks. I watched the cops give the driver a breathalyzer test.
