After watching the DVD last night, where they mentioned some of the fiction that had been written about the French Foreign Legion, I went looking for Beau Geste online, figuring that it had to be in the public domain.
Google Books had it, but I'm not excited about reading it on the computer; I'd rather have a copy that I can convert for use in my PDA or the Sony PRS 700 Ereader.
Then, I found it in another archive online at www.archive.org which I'd never heard of before. Apparently, it's connected to several libraries in the US and Canada.
OK, so that was fine, but looking a little more deeply at this archive, I found that they have stored over 10K texts in Yiddish...apparently something on the order of half all the published works in that language! I'm astonished! Now, I just have to learn the language...it's on my list of things to do.
