Wireless modem crashed last night, and we're stealing bandwidth right now from an open wireless signal nearby. Thanks, whoever you are. Before I go (unexpectedly) to work this morning, I'll have to go see about replacing it. *Sigh*.

That meant, of course, that we couldn't stream via Netflix, last night, so we tried to watch a Netflix disc that had been ordered on spec: The Legend of Zorro with A. Banderas. It was so bad that we dumped it five minutes in.

OTOH, I pulled out another Netflix disc which was the last one of season four of ST:DS9, and the episodes were actually pretty damn good. The special features, not so much.

I did manage to find enough time to read this week's comic book acquisitions. First was Warren Ellis' Supergod #4 which continues to be pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing where he goes with this saga of clashes between genetically modified people of different nations. Then I read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? #13 which apparently continues the novel in comic book form, and I still find worth reading.

Zorro

Are you talking about the Zorro film with Anthony Hopkins as well? I loved that movie! I think you guys should try it again when you're in a different state of mind. You might want to read Isabel Allende's "Zorro" too...

We loved it, too. But given the cast, and the foreknowledge that it's a campy western-ish action thingy, we expected popcorn eye candy over Great Art.

Ah, but which one did you love? Mask? Or Legend? Because we liked The Mask of Zorro, and this one wasn't it.

Excellent point. I recall liking Mask better than Legend, but I enjoyed them both. Besides, I'm a sucker for pretty costuming, regardless of historical accuracy. ;)

I figure that if they're going to spend time and effort getting the costuming right, they might as well get the history right at the same time...

Legend is the sequel to the one with Anthony Hopkins (which does indeed rock).

I very much enjoyed The Mask of Zorro, just as you did. Too bad about the sequel.

IIRC, the Anthony Hopkins one was the first one. This was the sequel, and in the time we gave it, there was no Hopkins to be seen.

A quick look at IMDB shows that The Mask of Zorro was the one with Hopkins in it, and we liked that one, which is why I gave The Legend of Zorro a try; we didn't see it in the theater when it came out, and I thought to give it a go. No.

Legend of Zorro was not as good as Mask of Zorro.
