OK, I'm really weirded out from something today:
I was driving from one hospital to another, the latter in Pomona, CA, when I saw a fellow standing with a small group of people on a street corner in a residential area. Suddenly, a non-descript, dark-colored sedan darted onto the street, with a guy hanging out the passenger window. The young man actually dove head-first over a three-foot fence, and got to his feet, and ran, zig-zagging.
I saw no gun, but it looks like I just witnessed an attempted driveby shooting...
It's also possible that the guys in the car wanted the young man to think that, to make him react in a cowardly way, but in any case it was a strange experience...
And you will NOT be driving through that hood right.
I think that henceforth I shall stay on a different path when driving from Kindred Hospital Ontario to Casa Colina Hospital.
I think you are lucky the young man was watching. You do not want to witness a successful drive-by shooting.
That would be, at best, uncomfortable...
That is just scary. Well, it happens here, too, in sleepy Lansing, MI.
Not in Lansing! Folks in Michigan are so nice! Especially in Detroit, where I watched a knife fight start at a showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show...
I'd say that generally, folks in Michigan are VERY nice but when you you have state government in the vicinity, there's a lot of angry people around.
Detroit is a world unto itself.
I've seen that. Yes, I can hardly imagine what it would be like to work at the Detroit Tourist Bureau...
You never know... everyone could have been playing around, or it could have been serious. There was a family renting at the end of the block here, kid used to hang out the window of the car as they drove by, wearing a mask, acting like he was shooting a gun. Once I asked the mom "what do you think you're doing?" - she said "his father plays 'dry by shooting' with him."
Cops hang out at a local gas station, I told them about this, they mentioned they'd been hearing about it. I noticed the cops started driving past that house a lot more, and eventually those folks left this area.
I just feel sad for the kid.
I HOPE it was just some assholes frightening the other fellow, because I really didn't see any gun, but damn, the one guy sure did seem to think it was for real.
you've got to stay out of the hood, man!
some areas of pomona are sheeat!
This was pointed out to me in no uncertain terms by forestcats
