Last night, I puttered with, and abandoned two books. In each case, I just found myself disinterested.

First I tried reading Marching Through Georgia, but I couldn't disengage my disbelief enough to give it a chance. Then, I picked up Larry Niven's Ringworld Children, and the same issue applied, for different reasons. As much as I would enjoy playing in an RPG set on the Ringworld, it doesn't mean that just any old story about it will stimulate me, I guess.

So, on to other books.

See, I've liked Turtledove's alternate histories, or at least some of them, but most of the other ones I've read just stop me cold. Too many assumptions, or something too unrealistic. I don't know what it was about Marching, but it just rubbed me wrong, and I dumped it.
