Over the last few days, I read a very short book by Tom Holt, called Someone Like Me, written as if from the POV of a hunter of what sounds like a werewolf, but isn't. Very short, very quick read, and he does a good job of describing the hunt.

A couple of days back, I started into the first episode of season six of ST:DS9, which had some very good moments, though not all of them. I'll watch more of that, later.

I left for work very early yesterday, so that we could go to a nice dinner at the home of a pulmonologist of French descent. forestcats wanted folks who know their cheese to tell her if the brie she's been making is comparable to that of France, in that raw milk cheeses do taste different from those that are made from pasteurized milk. We had a nice meal, good conversation, and he broke out a terrific bottle of wine. The family agreed that the cheese had the right taste and aroma, which delighted us!

Monday night, while walking from the parking lot into a nursing home in Pomona, I was accosted by an opossum. He seemed very disturbed that I would dare enter his neighborhood. We agreed to disagree.

Night before last, I had to attend a local hospital's annual general staff meeting; there were fifty or so doctors present out of 240+ on staff. It was held at the Sheraton Fairplex in Pomona, and I didn't expect much of it, what with the stigma of "hotel food", but shockingly enough, the food was much better than the rubber chicken I expected. Imperfect, but much better than I thought it would be. That made the meeting much more tolerable...

Being that it's the start of a new month, I have lots of nursing home work to get done, but yesterday's early start put me well onto the path of completion. I have three for today, and then the rest on Monday.

Friday night starts my niece's Bat Mitzvah; Saturday is the big day. It's going to be rough, getting all the ducks in a line, but we're on track.

While Internet Explorer at my office was essentially non-functional, yesterday, forestcats was trying to keep me apprised of the failures of our home's plumbing. She tried to get our favorite plumber in here; in fact, we've been trying for three weeks to no avail, and she finally got him to acknowledge that he wasn't going to be able to make an appearance for some time to come, so she called in someone else to repair the leak under the kitchen sink, the failing upstairs piping and toilet, and replacing the regulator to the house. It's all done now, thank goodness, but at a cost to her sanity.

And so it goes...
