I think that I'm going to open the year with being a little more descriptive of the comics that I read, because I'm always afraid of giving out too many spoilers, so I don't say all that much.
This comic was Sweets #4 of 5; it's a detective story about a serial killer set in New Orleans just as Hurricane Katrina is rolling in. I was intrigued by the setting more than anything, rather than the genre, and some of the artwork sets the stage well for me.
I'm not sure that I'd recommend the series to just anybody; maybe to folks who like detective fiction. Otherwise, pass.
I also dumped my first book of the year, yesterday. I'd taken this one out of the library, called Tree of Smoke by Denis Johnson. I set the bar pretty high for the library books, I guess, because I have so many books I want to read, so if they don't grab me pretty early, I just move on. Let's just say that this novel, which is supposed to be about the CIA in the Vietnam War managed to not grab me at all on page one, and leave it at that.
I'd hoped to post today about my experiences with e-readers, but I don't have time right now, so it'll have to wait. Tomorrow? I don't know.
