I'm not much of a motorhead; in fact, all I really want out of a car is that it drives, has reasonable pickup and maneuverability, air conditioning and a radio. However, the idiot antics of the British team that makes Top Gear amuses me to no end. So I took a peek at Netflix, and it turns out that 14 of 15 seasons are available for streaming (only about two are in their stock on disc, apparently), and so I added them to that queue. What the heck, fourteen seasons of who knows how many episodes can fill out an evening or two for laughs!

Oh, and just to be clear on this, I LOVE forestcats. Just sayin'.

I'm pretty much with you on the whole car thing and I agree with your assessment of Top Gear too. That famous phrase, "How hard can it be?"

I wonder if the early shows are boring, then?

We'll just have to see, then, won't we?

TG's James May has at least two shorter spinoff series we have enjoyed: James May's Toy Stories, where he takes classic old toys and has people build gigantic projects with them (like manufacturing, assembling, and painting a model airplane version of a Spitfire ... at 1:1 scale), and James May's Road Trip, where he tools around France with a British wine expert learning the ins and outs of French wines. I'm not sure if you can get either through Netflix, but you probably will be able to someday.

The latter show is presently running on BBC America, and I added it to our DVR taping list; obviously we're going to get the episodes in who knows what order, but it should be OK.

I'll look for the other one on Netflix immediately. If I said "posthaste", nowadays that would mean I wait a few days...

Yes, we recently started watching Road Trip in its BBCA showing. The next episode to air is the third (they've visited Bordeaux and Languedoc-Roussillon so far).

I'm pretty sure that they're repeating episodes, so I'll keep those two in mind, and we'll try to watch in order.

I love and adore you my most beloved one. When we met you had just traded in a very good car (Chevy Chevelle) for what turned out to be voted the worst model of its year (82 Olds Cutlass). I the southside kid of a grease monkey couldn't figure out WHY you would take your car to a J.C. Penny's garage and BELIEVE then that it would take $1700 to repair the brakes. In Chicago buying a new car is paying to watch it rust. We have had many auto adventures and the great fortune of Al our mechanic. Last night I was shocked to learn that Australia manufactures cars, WHO KNEW.

I also think Top Gear is very fun to watch, as much for the interplay between the hosts as anything else. :)

One of the James May Toy Story episodes has him attempting a full size house made out of Lego. Also the one where he does the giant Spitfire model is a must see. Really. Top Gear has changed the world. The programme was seriously dull before Jeremy Clarkeson was invented. It was all about cars or something! Weird.

I don't think I'll be able to easily see Toy Story for the time being, but I'll keep my eyes out for it.

By the way, how are you?

Mark's always liked the show. He doesn't watch it now, except when it appears during cruising, but I think he has good memories of it!

I wouldn't call that crusing. Cruising is something you do in a ship...

Thank you for the inadvertent reminder that I can stream Top Gear! (I'm considering a Roku.) Another thing I need to catch up on to be in-the-know in automotive media.

As much as I appreciate your input, it probably won't come as a surprise that that particular sentence wasn't truly meant just for you...

Don't be too upset.
