We volunteered at the 2nd 8th Grilled Cheese Invitational. We pulled in at a movies studio in downtown Los Angeles, and parked underground. We were directed into Judge Judy's courtroom, which was the marshaling station for the volunteers, and we were sent to the Competitor's Check-In booth.
We fit in quickly, and worked with them until 11. Then back to the courtroom and we filled bags with the materials for the competition.
Then, Gate 1 needed help, and we stayed there, working, until 3:30, when we finally got a break, and went to try a sandwich or three.
My first was from Greenspan's with buffalo-flavored chicken and blue cheese. Oh, yum! The chef was kind enough to thank us for volunteering. Second was a ginger ale (homemade) from Grub Restaurant; I was thirsty. Third was the Ruby Canard with duck and truffled chevre. More yum.
We wound down from there. Then home. What a cool day!
