Once brushette had had another constitutional, and I ate a bit of something or other, I started running this and that via streaming on the TV. I started with an episode of season 3 Top Gear, and then tried again to play Uncorked: Wine Made Easy on the Bluray, which once again didn't work. I threw up my hands, and then tried playing it on forestcats' laptop (which she oddly didn't take with her to SLO!), and it worked like a charm. On the disc were two episodes of the series, narrated by Ted Allen of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (he was the foodie), and it was pretty basic stuff. Not bad, just basic. Finally, I streamed Ikiru, a film by Akira Kurosawa, about a bureaucrat in 50s Japan who finds out he has terminal stomach cancer, and realizes that he's done nothing with his life. Very Japanese, beautifully shot, deeply meaningful film. I'm glad I watched it; I found myself considering my own life and choices.
And now forestcats is home; corveys has gone from morose to delighted, and brushette did the beagle happy dance, as much as her leg will allow her. The household is bubbling again!
