Yesterday revolved around going to a meeting of Dungeonmaster's management, as it were. Much was hashed out, but there's details that have to be worked on...so much to do.

We followed that up with a stop at The Last Grenadier, a game shop on Hollywood Way. They've got so much stock, but much of it looks ... outdated? The Gateway convention reminded me that the War House in Long Beach still exists, and the items they offered at the con suggests that the store is doing better than TLG. No time for a road trip anytime soon, but does anyone reading this shop at the War House?

It's been a while since I've gone in to The War House, but it struck me as being of the same vintage as The Last Grenadier, although a somewhat nicer experience. It's a little place crammed cheek-by-jowl with stuff, but less dusty and fewer visible tables and shelves stacked with piles of junk, and I get the impression that the War House's staff give a darn that you are in their store.

Game Empire Pasadena completely blows them both out of the water in terms of how pleasing an experience it is to go there. At least they did in their old location... they are currently in the process of getting the new location up and running so I'd wait a week or two before going.

At one point or another, I've been to all three, and I liked The War House best, but it's been years since I took a trip there.

Then there was Brookhurst Hobbies, and in my local area, Gameology. The latter is really poorly stocked, and though they state that they can order in anything, they really don't do well with that. The former I also haven't been to in years; I think the last time I was there we were standing in line at midnight to buy a release of Magic: The Gathering cards, but I don't recall which release...

I remember Brookhurst Hobbies. Last time I was there, though they didn't seem to be as well stocked or as interested in my business as they had been before.

I have a friend who makes special trips to one in Long Beach. I'll contact him and ask its name and location. He took me by there once and they were well stocked, and very willing to help.

My recollections of Brookhurst Hobbies are similar to yours; they didn't seem to care if I made a purchase or not...couldn't be bothered to come out from behind the counter, or wouldn't tell me where to find much of anything. That probably colored my lack of interest in returning. OTOH, during much of that time, I had All-Star Games directly on my path home from work, and I stopped there regularly, so there wasn't any need.

The shop in Long Beach is probably The War House.
