Years after first hearing about it, I've finally visited Ground Control.
GC is karaoke, alternate rock, happens every Monday night at a venue in Los Angeles. My wife has been there a few times, but usually she's gone when I was on call, and I was uncomfortable being in a loud venue, fearing that I might miss a page.
'Course, I was on call last night.
However, this time Dungeonmaster was returning the many favors that GC has given the show in the past. Heck, they even gave monetary support at least once. So, turnabout is fair play. A bunch of regulars and cast/crew all showed up to the bar.
Since I was on call, I didn't put in a song request. However, I did see
thefreak, themodeinliz and axelicious, among others, belt out songs. Honestly, if it weren't on Monday night, or if it weren't forty miles from our house, I could see us hanging there occasionally. But it's far, and it's a work night, and I'm getting older...
