I spent yesterday at the convention, learning a bit here, and a bit there. We met up with a variety of friends and acquaintances; among them, a doctor who I helped train back in Chicago, more than 25 years ago came up and greeted me. He now works at the UCLA student health department. I was quite pleased about that.

Later that afternoon, the convention set loose the attendees' children on the exhibit hall, where they were encouraged to trick-or-treat. The exhibitors had stocks of candy, which the very well-costumed kids raided with enthusiasm. It was very cute.

By the time we left, in the late afternoon, the rain had stopped, and the sun was out. I have to wonder if that storm was the remnant of Hurricane Rina passing overhead, but I hadn't been watching the news to know.

In the evening, we went with Gail and Howard to Cafe Tu Tu Tango, and we had a very tasty meal, followed by a stroll along International Drive. Good food, nice stroll, great conversation; it was a very pleasant end to the day that started so miserably with the storm.

More education today.
