We finished the BBC series, Gormenghast, last night. I had tried to read the books when I was in high school, but I found them impenetrable. The TV version is nearly so. Still, I found it interesting enough to keep on watching, though I won't ever return to it.

I found the TV version less sad than the books, but I too won't be reading or watching it again.I do love Ian Richardson in everything I've ever seen him in, so I'm glad to have seen this for that reason at least.

I'm trying once again to read the Gormenghast trilogy, though I'm not expecting to go very far, but we'll see.

forestcats and I agreed that the show could only have been done on the BBC; US channels would never pick it up. Wouldn't mean anything to Americans, for the most part.
