Last night I finished reading a slim volume called A Week at the Airport by Alain de Botton, which combines description with some ruminations of philosophy as sparked by the author spending a week living on the campus of Heathrow Airport in Britain. He does a very good job of explaining many aspects of airport operations while sparking the imagination. Worth a look.
