I no longer can argue that LJ has been unaffected by the disruptions of the last year or so. I used to have over 600 messages to plow through daily, what with one thing or another, but now it's only about half that, and most are from RSS feeds, so they aren't even generated here. Where are all you people?

Well, I think it also has a lot to do with what we want from the online services. FB, to me at least, is the place to be for discussions. Its sad, because LJ is much more suited to that. But FB has the critical mass of followers as well as share links that make it easier to post stories. I do agree that LJ is much better for deeper thoughts.

I've said to others in the past that LJ is to me what the old BBS activity was like, and I liked the give and take. FB I see as a toy, worth playing with but not all that worth taking seriously. DW is LJish, but somehow doesn't have the same spark. G+ rubs me the wrong way, and I don't like the way that new messages display on my screen. MySpace never interested me at all.

I'm sure that there are other venues of which I am unaware...
