 | 08:49 am Once home, last night, we cleared the DVR, and then I put on the last disc of Downton Abbey, series three. Quite the ending...

Is the series worth watching? I haven't seen any episodes, and I got rather scared off because of some of the fans. We're enjoying it, melodramatic and nearly soap opera, or not.

We excused ourselves early to feed our addiction as the finale aired last night. Yes, quit an ending. The writer seems to have no hesitancy to take some of his most appealing characters and terminate them, certainly opening doors to new directions in the series, but leaving us with the feeling of a member of the family, gone. My wife seemed to be in mourning this AM, over the loss of Matthew, who seemed to be the spiritual and moral spearhead of the best that 20th century reform could project. I was left longing for airbags and seat belts. We certainly were involved in the series, and will await its return. A soap opera of the first water.
