Mother's Day found us meeting up with family at my Mom's. She'd had several guests in from out of town staying for my niece's Bat Mitzvah, and so the festivities were all the more fun. Family included cousins from both Chicago and the Twin Cities, and of course all my siblings and my sister's in-laws joined us. It was relaxing and I had good chats with folks of several generations.

Afterwards, we headed home to feed the equines, but I made a stop intending to do a quick perusal of The Last Grenadier, a game shop on Hollywood Way near Bob Hope Airport. Apparently, they'd closed their doors in late March, as I found out with some Internet digging later. That leaves me wondering about Aero Hobbies (Santa Monica), Brookhurst Hobbies (OC) and The War House (Long Beach): are they still open and are they "healthy"? We have two game shops nearby, but both of them have extremely limited stock (which might just be why they manage to stay open; Grenadier had so much ANCIENT stock that they might have had a severe money crunch), and I rarely find anything I'm interested in at their stores.

Work week ahead...
