Osprey Men-at-Arms #8: The Black Watch was one of the earliest books by this company; it's moderately interesting, in that the regiment in question is one of the most famous in the British Army. However, Osprey's format has gotten much better than in those days. I'd call this one "fair".
Then, I also finished a short story set in GRRM's Westeros, about a century before the fun in Game of Thrones, called The Hedge Knight, and this one practically brought tears to my eyes. There's a couple more shorts in this particular knight's saga, and I'm hunting them down.
