Start with driving up from San Antonio to visit friends who live outside Austin. Long drive, but generally pleasant.
Our friends, the Larkins, have graciously allowed us to crash in the guest room. Very kind. They live in a wonderful home in Cedar Park.
On the evening of arrival, we went out to dinner at Oasis Texas, a restaurant with a spectacular lakeview.
Yesterday, Patrick took us to Fredericksburg, to the National War in the Pacific Museum, whose collection and structure is a brilliant learning experience. Nearby, an old hotel has been converted to display the life and history of Admiral Nimitz, of WWII fame. Very interesting.
Home that night, after dinner we played a round of Ticket to Ride, a game I've never played previously. Our hostess won, but barely, as forestcats was right on her heels.
Today is our host's birthday, and we're supposed to visit the wine country in this area; looking forward to it!
