One place or another, I managed yesterday to finish reading Osprey New Vanguard #114: US Navy Aircraft Carriers 1922 - 45: Prewar Classes. I found it to be a pretty good description of the warships built before WWII. Most of the most famous of the US carriers of the war come under this book's purview, and the book has a lot of little detail the make it interesting. Worth a quick look.

Went digging in my Osprey collection, thinking that I have that one. But, no.

I've the volumes for 1942-1945 CVs and the Nimitz class - respectively New Vanguard # 130 and 174. But not # 114 so far.

I remember being fascinated by carriers and carrier operations in my youth; nowadays there's lots more books out there on the topic.

...Not entirely on topic, once, when my wife and I were in San Diego for a medical convention, we watched a carrier task group sortie...

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco...
