A friend of ours lost his stepfather, and sat shiva last night; I managed to finish work near his home and less than a half hour prior to services, so I was able to attend. His rabbi showed up as the tenth person, and so we got through the service quickly. Food was served, and most of the attendees left rapidly. forestcats and I sat and chatted with them for nearly an additional hour. A sad time.
