Dead Dog Cat

old friend

My old buddy Steve, his spouse, and their kids, Bridget and I all met at Disney Downtown in Anaheim, as they are in town for most of the week to let the kids run free at the parks. We went to a rather good dinner at a place called Catal, and chatted about his wife's ongoing work to get a Jewish Community Center built in their town. Good conversation, good food, good friends; it was a great start for what would otherwise be a bummer week. Now, I'll be oncall for the next two days.

home

Nice to get home at something of a reasonable hour, though I already know that I'm going back out to deal with an admission at a local hospital. I'm oncall tonight and tomorrow and Fri/Sat/Sunday. Forward and get through it....

books again

Forgot to mention that I'd finished The Paths of the Dead, a Brust novel, and enjoyed it, though it did leave you hanging being part one of three. I've started reading the latest Bernard Cornwell novel: Vagabond; second in a series from the medieval period; the main character in the first novel found the lance of St. George, and is looking for the Holy Grail. One doesn't even contemplate the Knights Who Say "Nih".
