Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

Oncall last night...had 5 calls between 2:30 and 4:30 AM. The endless saga of people's discomfort and disease continues. Folks can't help it if they get ill in the wee hours. I often wonder if that is because they can't slow down and take stock during the day to realize how bad they feel...they only do that when they have a chance to rest at home and feel really crappy. So, off to the ER, and thence to be hospitalized.

Finished another book before bed last night: author David Weber has published the 4th short story collection based on his Honor Harrington series of novels. This one is called The Service of the Sword, and it includes stories by Weber, John Ringo, Eric Flint, Jane Lindskold, and Timothy Zahn. To those who have been reading the series of HH novels, this is a good selection of stories set in the same astropolitical arena, and hits on some interesting topics. For those of you who haven't read any of the series, try On Basilistk Station, the first novel of the lot, and see if you don't enjoy the female protagonist.

Last weekend was a rest and recuperate time for both of us. I rediscovered why one avoids sushi unless one finds a cheap place...though the quality was good, the service bit. (Toro Sushi in Chino, CA). Got some cleanup done, slept late, played NWN for the first time since 7/4/2002, I'm embarassed to say. I had intended to pick it up after I finished DungeonSiege, all the way through, but I got bored with DungeonSiege, and I guess I averaged adding about 5 minutes to the clock on the game each week. Add to that, getting lost underground occasionally, thereby wasting what little time I put into it, and I just couldn't take it anymore. On the other hand, NeverWinterNights has really grabbed me, and I find it very interesting, though it still doesn't match the joy of RPGing face-to-face.

It's going to be a busy week at work, in the run-in to the end of the month. And then Friday is our 15th anniversary; 20.5 years together in total. Seems like just 15 minutes. Can't describe what a beautiful angel I married that day....seems like a dream.
