Columbia launch

(no subject)

I just finished listening to The Conquerors: Roosevelt, Truman and the Destruction of Hitler's Germany 1941 - 1945 by Michael Beschloss. The most interesting thing about it is the picture it gives about how things work (or don't, for that matter) in the White House in specific, and in diplomacy in general. I had a lot of driving that I've been doing the last week or so, and this book was pressed on me by a neurosurgeon who was impressed by it. It gives you an idea how hard it is to get anything at all done, when you are President of the United States of America.

Too much work to be done this month...still have several dozen patients to see before midnight tonight...I'm oncall tonight but have the day off tomorrow, not that I won't still have to drop by the office for some paperwork....
