Weekend

Typical that I couldn't sit down to update until Thursday to discuss last weekend's activities.

Friday night: negotiation. I didn't get home until 7:30, changed clothes, picked up forestcats, and then off to the home of the possible future employer, where she, her husband, and her accountant waited. We got through some stiff discussion, and seemed to agree on several points. Now, I just want to see the proposed contract to decide what to do next.

Saturday: spent the day celebrating the natal anniversary of ladyarcana55 at a place called Hollywood Sports. It is a complex devoted to several "extreme" sports, including BMX, Rockwall climbing, and Paintball. The latter sport has about 7 acres devoted to it, with four different types of combat zones, including one that is equipped with some of the props and sets from the movie Starship Troopers. Hanging with our friends was pleasant. forestcats and I followed that with a stop at The Block in Orange to eat again at Cafe Tutu Tango; I really liked the blackened salmon.

Sunday morning was house cleaning, followed by several hours of gaming The World of the Three Moons; the party is involved in clearing a barony. Many of the players couldn't make it, so that those who did had a chance to really perform and gain some experience. On top of that, we BBQed, and ate outside in the gazebo under the stars. It was fun, though I think I'm going to hide the Malibu Rum in the future.

Monday: back to work.

I managed to read all the way through The Subtle Knife, by Philip Pullman, a book which is quite readable, and makes you want to keep turning pages; however, once I got to the end, my feeling was "why did I bother?" I know that isn't much of a recommendation, but the author has left me feeling like I'd have been better off reading the newspaper...
