Dead Dog Cat

Read, and didn't much enjoy, Enterprise: Broken Bow a Star Trek book, which deals with the latest series. I stopped purchasing Star Trek novels a couple of years back because I was generally not enjoying them. When I run across them at used book stores at a marked discount, I will consider their purchase, but otherwise, they can go rot. This book, I picked up at Powell's bookstore near the University of Chicago, when we were there recently. There'll be a couple more of the same that I'll read soon, but I don't expect much from them.

I was disappointed by the latest David Weber novel: Windrider's Oath, which I just couldn't get into. Weber is one of those authors whose works generally suck me in rapidly, and I'll read to distraction as fast as I can. For some reason, this new one just didn't do that, and since I'm so far behind in my reading, I just dumped it.

Last night, forestcats and I watched a couple more DVDs from Netflix, including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, which was a British, generally amusing, crime comedy; Episode One from Osbournes Season 2 1/2, in which the teens misbehave, and Ozzie gets overdosed on Nitrous Oxide; and part of the film Say Anything which we both found wooden, and which we gave up on after about a half hour.

forestcats mother is better now, and out of the emergency room and back home. She's most likely going to visit Las Vegas to make sure her mother's settling down OK. My niece is expected to be transferred from UCLA Medical Center Pediatrics ward to LA Children's Hospital today.
