Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

Let's start with the book, shall we?

Finished An Ancient Evil by P. C. Doherty last night. The novel is set in Medieval England, and borrows the Canterbury Tales in a manner of speaking. In the latter novel, written long ago by Chaucer, a group of pilgrims tell tales while riding to Canterbury. In this series, in which AAE is the first novel, the same folks are telling mystery/horror stories while resting at inns at night. This one deals with vampires and mystery in Oxford, and does it pretty well. I'm on to the next book of the series.

forestcats is off preparing my parents home (known by some as Fort Paley) for the upcoming birthday bashes for starrats22, timmy_ritz, axelicious, and Ben. I won't be there at tonight's festivities, but I'm hoping to be able to get there for tomorrow night's.

I managed to get ahold of The Witching #1, a new Vertigo comic. I can't quite decide if I like it yet, but we'll have to see. I'm not sure who all the players are yet, though it's pretty obvious who the character is in the last panel; I guess I'd have to re-read a number of Vertigo books to really know. Maybe someone else out there can clue me in?

Managed to finally catch Tuesday's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and it's getting obvious that it's a hit show, in that they are putting in more and more commercials, and we're seeing fewer Bravo network advertisements. More power to them.

I'm getting pretty fearful about the viability of Dungeonmaster, in that the show has changed to Saturday nights, and attendance has been halved. This is causing serious concern about the ability of the show to survive, in that the outgoing costs are moderately higher than the income. At this time, a nest egg has been built up, but it's not infinite, and unless more folks show, there may be a reckoning later this year. This troubles me. I'd hate to see it fail. I can only hope that more of the regulars who have been absent will make it soon.

I've been smitten by brushette. For those who have no idea who I'm talking about, take a look at the LJ. It's a hoot.

Be well.
