Columbia launch

(no subject)

another book:

Finished the third manga pocketbook of Luftwaffe 1946, and this one is more disappointing. Still, the author/artist does great work on the drawings of hardware, but his dealing with narration, and story structure is very weak.

Last night, forestcats and I sat through the UK version of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and I found it interesting that I honestly disliked the show. The team from London had everything going for them, but they just don't have the chemistry that the New York team does. Also, the UK version has the gay guys going out and doing things without the straight guy; in the US version, all of the team have separate periods of time with the victim, and impart their knowledge to him. In addition, I suspect that, in general, the Britons won't be willing to undergo the embarrassment; in fact, the first show had an Irishman as the target; the second, an Australian. Hmmmm. I don't think I'll be making an effort to see this show; if I'm home and doing nothing else maybe. Not like the way I've been enjoying the US version.

After that, we sat down to finish the material on the DVDs from I, Claudius. There was a BBC special from the 60s about a failed production from the 30s when they tried to make the film. Interesting, especially from the point-of-view of cinema history.

Less coughing, more energy. I think I'm beating this bronchitis...
