Books, I tell you; books!

I finished my friend's new novel, The Lazarus Vendetta (author Patrick Larkin, based on Robert Ludlum's Covert One series). Patrick handles the technothriller genre very well, and I found the book to be a satisfying read.

I also finally managed to find a copy of Lone Wolf and Cub #16: Gateway Into Winter. Again, I find that the art and writing of this series fascinates me, and evokes an emotional response; I expect that from the best works I read.

Watched a DVD copy of The Rocketeer, and once again enjoyed the sweet hokiness of the film. I love the line where Billy Campbell has flown with the jetpack for the first time, and he states vehemently: "I like it!"

Last night was a surprise anniversary dinner for my youngest sister and her husband. The restaurant turns out to be the same place where one of my closest friends had his wedding. Food was at best OK; wine poor; several members of the celebrants were lovely to see again. Following that, we patrolled over to one of today's stops (Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Westwood, down the street from UCLA) where we settled some details for today's event.

Today will be the Dungeonmaster Gauntlet, which is a great big scavenger hunt. Final details are falling into place, and the afternoon and evening should be fun.
