kitten and Mickey Mouse phone

(no subject)

Busy day yesterday.

I started oncall again; the morning started with me having 11 patients to see in three hospitals. By the end of the day, I had it down to 5 patients to see in two hospitals. The colleague from whom I accepted transfer of patients is rather timid about discharges, shall we say.

Home again, we deep cleaned part of the computer room, giving access to one of the computer tables that's been less used since I stopped using the Mac LC years ago. Then, forestcats and I put together the new computer. Much faster. Now, to load software...

I subsequently built a lamp to take the place of one we brought upstairs for use at the computer station. forestcats seems pleased with the new light in the den.

Watched Queer Eye for the Straight Guy in which they deal with several players from the Boston Red Sox. Amusing, but not exactly one of their better episodes. Nice to see a new one, for a change. Bravo announced that they will start selling episodes on DVD via their web site on 6/21.

Then, I stayed up too late, reading off LJ on the new computer; what a great screen, and so much lighter than the old monitor from the previous machine.

Off to work, then.

Finished a couple of books in the last few days:

First of all, is the newest installment in Glen Cook's series of fantasy mysteries, Whispering Nickel Idols. I've always found this series entertaining, and it doesn't take itself too literally. I'm not sure what number they're up to, but I'd recommend the series.

Second book, finished this morning, is a manga, Blade of the Immortal: Blood of a Thousand, which I picked up at someone's suggestion. It has a very different feel than the Lone Wolf and Cub books, but still amuses me. I'll continue them, for now.
