Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

Thursday night was quite the night for me for local fauna.

I got out of the office very late, as we saw a vast number of ill patients. Walking to my car, I was amused to see a jackrabbit sitting in the parking lot, just a few dozen feet away. My approach didn't bother him, but opening the hatchback caused him to scurry over to the hedge...

Later that same night, as I was exiting the last hospital of the night, I was suddenly very frightened. You see, as soon as I walked out, my nostrils were assailed by the distinctive scent of skunk. Now, I never saw the little bugger, but the whole parking lot was loaded with the stink.

So, last night was the Opening Ceremonies for the Winter Olympics.

I was irritated due to work, because I knew I wouldn't get home in time to see them, as NBC's coverage was supposed to start at 8PM. Thank goodness, that was when they started their spiels, not when the main event started. By the time I finished my hospital rounds and settled in at home, the talking heads were still setting the stage. By the time forestcats and I were done with the (wonderful) dinner she cooked up, things were just starting.

The worst Opening Ceremonies that I can recall were at Atlanta; this set, I thought, was pretty tasteful, and quite enjoyable. I always like watching the teams march in. And now for the games themselves!
