Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

I read another Osprey book today, this being Osprey Campaign #170: Osaka 1615: The Last Battle of the Samurai. An interesting overview of the end of a period.

After getting the hospital work done, forestcats and I went to get some dinner at Acapulco, which was pretty fair, and then went to the Fairplex in Pomona to see Kaboom which is the fireworks display. However, getting there, there were signs everywhere that the show was sold out. When we got to the parking ticket saleswoman, I asked her what to do, figuring that she'd direct me to the exit of the parking lot, and not charge me. Instead, she suggested paying for parking, and watching the fireworks from the parking lot. Brilliant!

So, we sit out there for a goodly while. We hadn't brought any reading matter (shocking!), but we chatted with friends via cell phone as the night fell. Finally, some of the other local municipalities started their displays; we could see Claremont and La Verne clearly, and more distantly, we could see Upland's. Finally, after some activities on the grounds of the fair which we couldn't see, Kaboom started. As we'd noted before, the La Verne show was much better, and the fireworks we'd been awaiting took only about fifteen minutes to show. It actually took more than double that for us to get out of the parking lot.

We'd locked up the dogs so that they wouldn't be out in the fireworks, getting freaked, so they were glad to see us when we arrived.

I finished my night with Queer Eye for the Straight Guy which appeared to be wasted on the show's straight guy, this time.

Off to work!
