Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

After a quick burn through reading, I finished Three Days to Never, a new novel by Tim Powers. This author has a real knack of pulling me into the book, not explaining what's really going on for at least a third of the way, but making it impossible to stop reading until the end. Great stuff. The novel manipulates history, magic, and spy genres in a very fresh fashion.

In other news, my spouse's mother and stepfather arrived here from Las Vegas yesterday, and so the household is in something of an uproar.

We took them out to a local eatery where the food was tough, and nearly flavorless. After the meal, we showed them two episodes of Deadwood off of Netflix DVDs, which at least my MIL seemed to enjoy. I finished the evening with Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which seemed strained, and the book mentioned above.

And now, back to work.
