Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

So, last night, we finished watching disk one of Lost season two via Netflix. I'm finding that their habit of explaining little or nothing is becoming much less intriguing and more irritating. We'll see if they manage to improve my mood over the whole thing soon.

As I promised on the 20th, I'd discuss a little gadget that I procured recently via Ebay.

You see, bigsqueezer and his family showed me an item that they'd found at WalMart that I kept trying to find at some other venue, since I'd rather avoid supporting that particular business. Unfortunately, the various electronic stores and their associated online shopping sites didn't list any such item, all of them being for the most part devoted to iPods and suchlike.

The item is plugged into the cigarette lighter/power point of a car, and it sends out a low-power signal to the FM radio on a station low on the board. The interesting thing from my point-of-view is that it accepts input, not from an iPod, or a PDA, or a laptop, but from a memory stick, via a USB port...though it will accept PDAs, etc, via a plug to the earphone jack.

The output is a little weak, and due to the fact that the LA area has no open radio frequencies at all, there's interference on the station I chose; however, the opportunity to play what *I* want to listen to is worth it. I haven't the time to put together a cassette of music anymore, but loading a memory stick with MP3s is easy!

The world is a strange place.

I pull in and park at a nursing home in Ontario, California, this evening. Hopping and waddling away from my parking place is a bright lime green praying mantis. It's motion suggests that it is wounded, but what do I know? I'm not an insect doctor.

Odd.
