Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

Busy day yesterday; only slightly better today.

I finished a comic before I went out to see my hospital patients, this one being Warren Ellis' new book called New Universal #1. Interesting, seems like it's covering ground that I've seen before in Rising Stars, but I expect it to go in a very different direction.

Finishing my hospital rounds, I managed to track down the last item of forestcats Hanukkah presents, as well as a birthday present for her. Whew!

After a bit of a rest, we headed for the San Fernando Valley. Traffic came to a dead stop, most likely because a storm cell arrived, very early, and heavy rains made driving just that much more amusing. We did beat the birthday boy to his surprise party (and I'm not sure that he was actually all that surprised), by quite a bit, though we arrived at the house about 10 minutes later than we were supposed to. We were, however, among the first there. It was delightful being with our friend, Jeff, celebrating his impending 50th birthday, but it just wasn't our kind of party; too straight-laced.

Then, it was off to the Yankee Swap, hosted by themodeinliz and axelicious (the latter of whom has lost a prodigious amount of weight in the last few weeks). The number of LJers at this party was quite impressive (too many for me to type out, being that I have to go to the hospitals again today, and it would take an hour to recall and type them all), and the atmosphere was festive. Our gifts were reasonably well-received, and forestcats did have her item switched out from under her, leaving her with a CD that we already own. When it got to me, there wasn't any one item that I particularly wanted, so I kept the DVD of Young Guns. Then back home in the rain.

We have a couple of homes to visit today, so I must be off to get my work done...
