Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

As I was stuck covering the beeper yesterday, I spent much of the evening watching old episodes of The Prisoner on DVD. They aren't holding up quite as well as I recall.

*Sigh*
Dead Dog Cat

A busy day.

We begin with the completion of another novel by Alexander Kent, this one being the newly released Heart of Oak. The novels since the death of a prior protagonist (Sir Richard Bolitho) just haven't had the same vigor and interest. The author has tried to carry on with the previous character's nephew, but it just hasn't jelled. In addition, there's too little conversation, and much of the novel is in the various characters' heads. Also, the transitions from character to character is, at best, unsettling. I enjoyed the earlier novels; this one was only fair.

Earlier, it's been a laundry day; I'm nearly finished now with putting them all away.

forestcats and I took one of the horses and the donkey, Boo-boo for a walk on the trails. The donkey wasn't too recalcitrant except when we had to cross open water, of about 15 inches in width. Such a disaster!

We grilled musk ox leftovers from the Carnivore's Feast; then relaxed a la hammock, which is where I completed the novel above. Very nice.
