Dead Dog Cat

Aside from rounding at the hospitals yesterday, much of the day was involved in going to the Valley to spend time with my Dad. It was a cold cut and veggie day, as Dad doesn't enjoy grilling, and my Mom gave up the old grill that we'd renovated back when we moved into the house and found it abandoned. Now, THAT was a summer project. Anyway, forestcats once again performed her miraculous work on dough and made two loaves of challah, and then we stopped at the Claremont Farmers' Market to get fresh, tasty vegetables to serve at the get-together. They were a hit.

Both of us swam at the party at my folks' pool, with my sister's kids. Fun.

Somewhere in there, I finished reading three comics, Fables #60 - 62. Great storylines; I'm not getting a good read on which way they're going with this series and I like that.

I got through the last handful of pages of Fables: Sons of Empire just before going off to holiday festivities yesterday; not at all a chore, as the Fables line is a very good read indeed. This is the ninth graphic novel that collects the previous comics, and this is an adult rendering of the ancient fabled creatures. I'd solidly recommend the books.
