And then there's the comics. This week has two older runs that I'm following, and one new one.

First was Jack of Fables #12, which was mildly amusing. Then there was Crossing Midnight: A Map of Midnight #8, which series very much reminds me of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, or his American Gods, or other urban fantasy works, while being a very Japanese milieu. I'm liking the trip so far with this one. Last was a new series for me, called Grimm Fairy Tales: Return to Wonderland #1. It was fairly profane, and hints at a variety of perversions, but I have to wonder if Lewis Carroll's book didn't do the same for those in England of his day? So, I'm curious where they are going to go with this book.

bigsqueezer and company have arrived to work the big Anime show in Anaheim this upcoming weekend; they have setup today, and they'll be leaving Monday. I'm not sure if they'll be staying with us, or down at the convention, but they're in our spare bedrooms now, slowly rising. We shared some of the kangaroo meat with them last night, and that went over pretty well, as did the produce from the Farmers Markets locally, and the tomatoes from forestcats' garden. Yum! We also shared Top Chef with them last night, and one of the younger members of the crew was until recently working as a sous chef at a French restaurant; it was interesting to watch him pondering the contestants choices in the food they prepared. He's going to borrow a couple of Good Eats DVDs for entertainment while they are at the Anime show...good for him!
