Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

I finished another book yesterday; I have several partially read, so it's be a less busy week, and reading is leading to a lot of completions. Anyway, this was a Raymond Feist novel, called Into a Dark Realm, which is clearly a middle book in a series, as it leaves far too many things incomplete, though it built to a climax in a reasonably good fashion. It's a fantasy novel, set in the complex world that Feist has been using for the last couple of decades. I really don't think that this book stands alone well, but if you've been reading the saga, it's a fairly good addition; not boring.

On the other hand, I tried reading Accelerando by Charles Stross, and I just couldn't get into it. I have so many books stacked up to be read, that I don't have the mental energy to try to engage the futureworld that Stross is trying to build in this novel. Someone with more time or acuity might do well with the book, though.

I went, last night, to a drug company's dinner at a place called Owen's Bistro, right next to the Chino City Hall. Excellent food, and oddly enough, I actually learned something useful about the drug that they were pushing.
