So, yesterday's evening out, we went to a restaurant new to us, called Owen's Bistro, right next to the Chino Civic Center. It's a small place, seating about 24 indoors, with some more tables on the patio outside, but it was a bit too cool for that, last night. The entree was excellent; the wines list was limited, but fairly good, with a number of items by the glass. The appetizer was fine, the dessert very good. The company was, of course, excellent. We were gifted a small bottle of a Spanish sparkling wine in honor of the celebration, which was very nice of them, and it cleansed our palates nicely prior to dessert. Very nice, we'll be back.

Home after the dinner out, we tossed onto the DVR a DVD which is the last of the Joan of Arcadia series; the final episode set itself up for future adventures, but wasn't picked up. Still, you could see the growth that the main character had shown over the previous episodes, and it was sort of upbeat. I'd say that the series was worth a look-see.

Over the last few days, some comics were acquired and read. These include:

Jack of Fables #21: odd, as it drops the present topics, and goes to a performance of Hamlet for some unclear reason.

Crossing Midnight #17: The Sword in the Soul Part One: has some good points, but it wasn't as good as the earlier run.

Drafted #6: better and better. Now the aliens are conscripting humans into non-combat roles as well. I like where this is going.

Gravel #2 (by Warren Ellis): I'm wondering why he's being so bloody, something that this issue stimulated. Interesting thoughts on magic, again.
