Dead Dog Cat

Through the weekend, I managed to finish a couple of books, the first being Path of the Assassin Volume 11: Hikuma Castle, which is a manga that carries forward the history of the ninja and the future shogun. Still pretty interesting; the other was Dark Voyage, by Alan Furst, which is another in his series of books about WWII's clandestine warfare. In this case, it's a about a Dutch merchant ship which volunteers to become a unit of the Free Dutch forces, and is used in secret ways to carry commandos and unusual cargos to special places. I found it to be an engrossing read.

Yesterday, we got some repairs done at the house, rested (read), and then went to services with our Havurah for Shavuos, something I've never done before. Shavuos is one of the Yizgor services, where we have prayers for our deceased relatives, so I prayed for Dad, as well as my grandparents and Uncle Bernie.

Odd day.

Start with that I dumped a book by Allen Steele. Now, I've liked his works up to this point, but this one I just couldn't get into. The protagonist just didn't click for me, so I'm dumping it and picking up another book by the same author. The dumped book is The Jericho Iteration.

Censored I shouldn't tell you all about the previous; I posted it privately for my own recollection if I ever need it. Suffice it to say that it wasn't good.

My arm that Censored is bruised, my back is a bit wrenched. I'm pretty sure it's all minor, but I didn't need this to improve my mood for the first day on call.

*Sigh*.
