I've been pushing to finish this book: Outlaw Journalist: The Life and Times of Hunter S. Thompson by William McKeen. As opposed to several other works I've recently read on the subject, this one is a real biography, with the author making value judgements and discussing his works, as opposed to his friends who tried to have little to say negative about him, or who tried to make it all out to be jokes when his behavior wasn't the best. I'd call this the best of the books I've read recently on the topic.
