Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

After services, last night, and a few minutes on the Wii Fit, we sat down and watched disc two season four of Battlestar Galactica which had some pretty odd bits. I was saddened by one character loss, and I'm not sure where they are going with the saga. We'll have to see.

Over the last couple of days, I've finished reading four comics. First was Fables #80. They are going down a dark and interesting path there. Second was DMZ #38, another dark path. Third was Gravel #8 which actually seems more interesting than the previous few. Last was Anna Mercury #5. It seems like it finished a short run in the way it played out, but I'm not sure. Left me a bit unsatisfied.

I just finished reading Barbara Kingsolver's book about her attempt to feed herself as well as her family on locally-grown materials, including from their own garden for a year, called Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life. Considering that at our house, some of our herbs, tomatoes and zucchini, as well as other items, often end up on our table, or as gifts to friends, and we get our apples from orchards the next range of hills over, this book struck quite a chord with me. It includes some recipes as well as tidbits of advice. Nicely done.
