Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

Along with some cleanup in the house, last night saw us watching disc one of season two, Rome, from HBO. Still very good. I really like watching Octavion maturing; we have disc two at the house, but probably won't get to it for a couple of days.

We hosted services again at our house, and then the Havurah joined us for a magnificent kosher turkey and pretty much all the trimmings to follow, the bird and Challah by forestcats as well as other dishes. Wonderful time, and folks were relaxed and enjoying themselves. Always a plus.

We also, when resting after folks were gone, finished another disc from HBO's Rome second season. Great stuff.

Earlier in the week, I finished reading a comic, Jack of Fables #30. Eh. I'm not impressed. This may be the last of the saga that I'm going to bother with. We'll see.

Another book bites the dust. This one was Seeds of Change: Six Plants That Transformed Mankind, written by Henry Hobhouse. I would have thought that this premise would easily hold my interest, but to me, the author seemed to slide off into political diatribes that did little to advance his theme. A bit disjoint; still, there's another book by the same author, called Seeds of Wealth that might do a bit better. I may pursue this book.
