Dead Dog Cat

Before crashing into insensibility, last night, I finished reading another comic book: Buckaroo Banzai: Big Size #1. Not bad; it dealt primarily with Perfect Tommy, and made fun of Jeff Goldblum's character in the movie by showing that Pecos was a woman. Amusing, more or less.

A bit later, today, I'll be trying my hand at powering up and loading an iPod. Wish me luck...

I dumped a couple of books that just weren't catching my fancy, as well. These include Greek Gods and Heroes by Robert Graves, a small book that I tried to get into but didn't. The other was Haile Selassie's War by Anthony Mockler. Again, didn't grab me, and I have too many other books to read that I know would retain my attention better.

Two more books will be flushed, as well. The first is Juggler of Worlds by Niven and Lerner; not as good as the first of its series, which was acceptable. The second book was Outwitting the Gestapo by Lucie Aubrac, about a young woman in the French Resistance in WWII; I suspect that my problem getting interested in the book was due to translation problems.

I can't tell if I'm just irritable today, or if I've just run into a string of lesser books, but this one from Julian Stockwin, whose Napoleonic sagas I've more or less enjoyed in the past, just isn't cutting it for me. Called The Privateer's Revenge, I ceased reading it not a third of the way in, as the book just lost its flavor for me. Oh, well. On to other books.
