Dead Dog Cat

More looking at the sky, yesterday, led to me seeing the moon surrounded by two haloes; indicates incoming weather, so of course today we're cloudy, expecting rain all weekend. Nice.

Let us open this evening's post with a couple of books I finished reading this afternoon.

First was Osprey New Vanguard #149: Tudor Warships (2): Elizabeth I's Navy, a pretty solid book chock full of information about the English forces that went up against the Armada. A pretty good bit of data.

The second was Osprey New Vanguard #21: Merkava Main Battle Tank MKs I, II & III, a treatise about the Israeli home-grown weapon system that they were forced to adopt because they couldn't depend on European sources. This book is a little out of date, because the Merkava IV has been in use for some years, already, but the history of the Israeli Tank Corps in here was enlightening.

Then, in addition, I finished reading a comic book, Phoenix Without Ashes #4; trouble on a generation ship. Hmm. Heinlein wrote one, I hear Greg Bear has a new novel out in the same vein. Must be a classic SF theme...
