Dead Dog Cat

(no subject)

forestcats is off at a Bar Mitzvah which I can't attend because our office manager screwed up the schedule (which had better get fixed next week!), and I'm on call again. Kiera is being nice enough to house sit brushette for today, but I'll have to try to get home fairly early to continue the beagle-watch.

Last night, once home, I ran one episode of Top Gear season 3, and followed that with Metropolis Restored which certainly seemed different from the one I recall watching 28 years ago on Dr. Krejsa's VHS player. Much of the restoration was sharp, looking better than it probably did on screens back then. There were bits, here and there, that couldn't be repaired, though.

This morning, I finished reading a very large volume of biography that I started late last year. It's Robert A. Heinlein: In Dialogue with his Century: Volume 1: Learning Curve 1907 - 1948, which deals with his life from birth (well, actually, before his birth) through his wedding with his third wife, Virginia. The first few chapters dragged, probably due to lack of material, and the lack of surviving folk from that era, but once he got to Annapolis and thereafter, it read very well, and zipped along. Obviously, there'll be more volumes, and I'll be watching for them.
