Dead Dog Cat

One curious item that I forgot to mention about our trip to Kentucky:

While we wandered a mall in Ashland, forestcats noticed that I had the longest hair of all the men in the mall. Nearly all of them wore crewcuts. Finally, a family walked by with a teen who had hair down to his shoulders, but it was a bit eerie that conservative old me was doing the Samson thing in comparison to the locals!

I finished a graphic novel, this morning, that's the prequel to the new TV show, Falling Skies. It doesn't clear up any of the issues that others have complained about the logic of the show, but it does a bit better job of setting the scene. Slightly, anyway.

I also read a comic book yesterday that finishes the run: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? #24 of 24. It seems to me that the story petered out, but maybe I see it that way because of the wait for the comic. Maybe if I'd been reading it as a novel, or in a graphic novel rather than the comic books, it would have hit me different. Still, it does provoke some thought, so I guess I shouldn't complain. These comics include the entire text of Dick's novel, so they might be worth a look.

Not that I mean to be an advertisement for the service, but I'm tickled to see that as of 7/1/11, the entire Star Trek TV canon will be available for streaming via Netflix. This means that a large number of discs on our queue won't have to be mailed to us, and we will have a lot more stuff to watch when we've burned through what they've sent us. Nice.
